Maxine Sims | Gallerist
Born in Germany to European parents who instilled the love of travel and the desire to appreciate and understand different cultures, Max spent her childhood years on the tranquil island of Oahu. Max’s family moved to Dallas when she was twelve. Through all of these early experiences Max developed an appreciation for the crafts of local artisans. Even as a child, while spending summers with her grandparents in Germany, Max was always on the lookout for a handmade treasure to bring home as a souvenir…from a wooden, whittled edelweiss flower crafted by an elderly man in the Alps to the hand painted egg from a street vendor in Prague. Today, Max is always on the hunt for that perfect find which tells a story and can be transformed into a fabulous, one–of-a-kind piece of art!
Max is never without a camera, literally; just ask her family and friends! Like a true treasure seeker, Max’s eye is also always on the hunt to capture a perfect moment in time. Growing up Catholic and seeing many churches, she is inspired by old, religious objects. A mother of two children, Max is also drawn to the sweet, intimate moments of family life. Her sense of design, color and perspective allow her to capture a beautiful moment in a unique way.
Max’s images, called L i f e s h o t s, are available at the Gallery.
Who would have ever thought that the girl from Hawaii, who graduated from Vanderbilt with a degree in Nursing and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Dallas, would become the owner of Dallas Frame & Gallery by Max?
